3.4. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, https://www.google.com/analytics (“Google Analytics” or “Google”), to understand how visitors use our website. To accomplish this, Google stores cookies on your computer. We use what we learn to improve the website, our services, and deliver more relevant content. The information generated by these cookies, such as time, place and frequency of your visits to our site, including your IP address, is transmitted to Google. Our implementation of Google Analytics uses the extension “anonymizeIp”, https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/2763052. It instructs Google to abbreviate and anonymize your IP address:

When a customer of Analytics requests IP address anonymization, Analytics anonymizes the address as soon as technically feasible at the earliest possible stage of the collection network. The IP anonymization feature in Analytics sets the last octet of IPv4 user IP addresses and the last 80 bits of IPv6 addresses to zeros in memory shortly after being sent to the Analytics Collection Network. The full IP address is never written to disk in this case.

Google Analytics also uses electronic images known as web beacons (single pixel gifs). Used in conjunction with cookies, they contribute to aggregated statistics that help us understand how our website is used. Google may transfer information gathered by Google Analytics to third parties. This is true when Google is meeting a legal requirement and in cases where third parties process on behalf of Google. Google says, it will in never associate your IP address with other data held by Google. For more information about Google’s privacy protections, visit https://policies.google.com/privacy.
